Do you have problems with unsightly facial thread veins? Then help is at hand in the form of a new treatment from VBeauty. This treatment is now carried out by Debbie Gallagher locally at Waterside Skincare, Penryn.

Unlike other facial thread vein treatments, VBeauty uses a very high frequency current to thermo coagulate the blood supply, literally microwaving the individual veins, making them disappear. This technology is currently used by medical practitioners in the form of Veinwave, the parent company of VBeauty, but is now also available for qualified skincare therapists to use as well. There are other treatments available but they don’t offer the safe, high frequency current method which VBeauty does.

There are pros and cons to each method of thread vein removal opting for laser, IPL or the old fashioned method of electrolysis can mean that you are unable to go out in the sun for several weeks after treatment, you are not able to use skincare products immediately to treat the skin and in some cases ‘cat scratch’ type scabbing can unfortunately occur which may lead to scarring and possibly pigmentation problems. Often the price can be prohibitive with some of the treatments available. There is no problem with pigmentation, burning or scarring with VBeauty. And good news too, fortunately the cost is not too prohibitive either!

It’s official, I am a statistic! A whopping 15 million people in the UK have facial thread veins and I thought it was just me who had a red spaghetti junction growing on my face and a Jurassic sized red spider (neavus) permanently resident on my face. Ha! Well not for long! Having spent an informative hour with my skincare therapist having a prescription facial with an in depth skin analysis, I am off to the Waterside Skincare Salon again this morning to have the road map removed from my face by Debbie who uses the revolutionary VBeauty facial thread vein treatment.

On arrival I am asked to fill in a long and thorough consultation sheet. My nervous churning tummy makes me decline the offered hot drink. As the dryness in my mouth belies the confidence I am trying to portray I am invited to lie on the couch. Debbie explains exactly how the procedure works, what to expect and what it might feel like. All my questions are answered fully and professionally which puts my mind at ease and my stomach at rest.

A polarised light is shone onto the area to give Debbie a clearer view through the top layer of skin as she systematically closes down each vein; this is done through an ultra fine, insulated needle which does not penetrate the vein but through which she fires a high frequency current to thermo coagulate the blood supply to the individual veins. The sensation is as she described it, prickly, but not too bad at all. Feeling slightly warm and tingly on my face by the end of the treatment I am keen to see the results.

I am handed the mirror and shown the treated areas and to my amazement the criss cross of red veins that had been visible at 25 yards have disappeared and said Jurassic arachnid has been duly removed from my face! (A second treatment will be necessary I am told).The skin is red and warm as Debbie had explained it would be for a few days whilst the area is healing. A soothing preparation and naturally pigmented treatment foundation is applied to the area to soothe and cover the treated area and off I go to work. I can use all my skincare products as normal, can still walk the dog in the sun but will now be more mindful of using my SPF and wearing a hat when I go out. The follow up second treatment is now awaited with enthusiasm and confidence and next time I go to Waterside Skincare I will look forward to relaxing and enjoying a nice cuppa with the spectacular view over the Penryn River before my treatment. All safe in the knowledge that I am in the hands of an experienced, professional skincare therapist who really knows and cares about what she is doing.
